Sen. Osita declares, “I’ll Be The Next Senate President.”

Osita Izunaso, the senator-elect for the Imo West Senatorial District, proclaimed that he would take over as Senate President as preparations for the 10th Assembly moved forward in high gear.

Osita made the statement while paying a courtesy call to the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Abuja headquarters.

“By the special Grace of God, I will be the next Senate president, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t communicating with other people.

“We are speaking with Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari and seeking the advice of other candidates who are running for Senate President. But I can promise you that, by God’s special grace, Osita will ultimately become the next Senate President.

In response to a question on the party’s chosen candidate, Osita stated that no one has been chosen by the party, adding that journalists shouldn’t create errors because, in his view, everyone will be aware whenever such an agreement is reached.

“The party is requesting better and more extensive consultation. We recently received a meeting invitation; it may be on Sunday or Monday. Therefore, no one has been selected by the party to serve as Senate President.

“As a journalist you can form opinions about what is happening in the country because the problem we are having in the country today is information mismanagement,” said Osita, who also urged journalists to back his bid for Senate President.

Osita received assurance from Mr. Chris Isiguzo, National President of the NUJ, that journalists will always be there for him.

“Journalists will start demonstrating their support with the kind of stories he will start reading from today, and we are going to catch the biggest fish in the ocean,” he said.
